FBReader it is a reader of e-books that in their latest versions is available for Linux, Android, OS X and Windows.
The program is able to read a wide variety of formats, Such as EPUB, PDF, FB2, MOBI, HTML or just plain text; it also allows access to large e-book libraries to buy them or download them for free as the case may be. But maybe the best thing is that it has one fully customizable interface, Allowing you to easily choose the color of the text, font and animations used when changing pages.
FBReader is a application totally free the source code is distributed under the GNU GPL license.
FBReader is available at Ubuntu Software Center so to install the application just open it, look for «FBReader» and mark the package for installation. This can also be done in the package manager of our choice.
Another option is to perform the installation from the console:
sudo apt-get install fbreader
If we want to install the latest version available of the application we must do it manually, running:
wget -c http://fbreader.org/files/desktop/fbreader_0.99.4-1_i386.deb http://fbreader.org/files/desktop/libunibreak1_1.0-1_i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i libunibreak1_1.0-1_i386.deb && sudo dpkg -i fbreader_0.99.4-1_i386.deb
In case we have a machine 64 bits we will then have to download the packages in their versions for this architecture:
wget -c http://fbreader.org/files/desktop/fbreader_0.99.4-1_amd64.deb http://fbreader.org/files/desktop/libunibreak1_1.0-1_amd64.deb
