Offers for free updates from Windows 7 and 8 to Windows 10 are officially closed. But it is still possible to get the latest version of the operating system, without paying a euro.
When Windows 10 was launched in July 2015, Microsoft undertook a major promotional campaign to offer its operating system free of charge to users of Windows 7 and 8/8.1. This free upgrade was valid for one year and after that it was still possible to update it through Microsoft’s site dedicated to assistive technologies, used for example by the visually impaired. The editor has stopped this operation, but all is not lost if you still want to update your Windows 7/8/8.1 machine. To do so, please contact us:
1 – Download the support creation tool

3 – Launch the installation of Windows 10
Then you have two options. If you start the PC from the USB stick, you perform a full installation of Windows 10 that deletes all previous data (applications, user files) and requires you to enter the product key of your current Windows to activate the operating system. This is not the path we suggest you take.
- To update your current system and maintain your data and applications, start the file browser, click on the USB key in the tree and double-click setup.exe .
- In the window Get Important Updates , click the button Next . Then click on the button Accept for the Notice and Terms & Conditions of the Applicable License Agreement . When the Ready for Installation window appears, click the Install button.
The computer will restart several times during the installation, which is perfectly normal. 4 – Check activation Use the key combination <Windows In the section Activation of Windows , the mention Windows is activated must be present. If not, click on , change the product key and enter the key that came with your old operating system (it is in the form of five groups of five letters and numbers separated by dashes).
