One of the most popular Linux distros is without a doubt Fedora. the Linux distribution based on RPM and supported by Hat network, Is one that offers us more market quality, its ideology of modifying source code instead of making patches to solve problems has led them to be at the top in terms of quality in Linux operating systems is concerned.
One of the things the installer does not do as standard Fedora 17 and previous versions, that is, that although we select by default for system installation the language Spanish, This is not activated after installation, which is why I decided to make this simple basic tutorial to tell them how to put it completely in Spanish.
To achieve this, after the installation of operating system, and once completely restarted and updated, We will take the following steps:
First upgrade the distro completely
First of all, update the repository list:
sudo yum update
Followed by a full update:
sudo yum upgrade
Now we can close the terminal and go to the system configuration to select the Spanish language.
How to set the Spanish language for the whole system
How this distro wears gnome-shell by default, to open the system configuration, we will go to the upper left corner, we will type settings and press Enter, This will open the configuration menu of Fedora 17:
Now we will select Regions and Languages and we will configure it as follows:
- Languages — Spanish
- Formats —- Spanish
- Layouts —- Spanish
- System —– Spanish
Once all the options have been selected, we will restart the system and in the window that appears we will select the option to Change all names.
With this we will already have the whole system of Fedora 17 completely in Spanish.
