In the next article I will teach you how to use ours Ubuntu 12.04, To turn it into a media server and be able to view from the Play Station 3 all content that we select or give prior permission.
We will achieve this in a very simple way using Mediatomb.
to install mediatomb, We will open 1 new terminal and the first thing we will do is update the list of repositories installed:
sudo apt-get update
Then we will install mediatomb entering the following line:
sudo apt-get install mediatomb
Now we will run mediatomb with the following order:
Once the mediatomb has been executed, we will look at the terminal that will give us an ip address, which we will have to copy and open in our favorite web browser, From which we will proceed to the configuration to share content from our computer.
Once copied the address reported by the terminal in our web browser, one should appear window as follows:
On the left we can see two different tabs, one that puts Database and another that puts filesystem.
Database is the directory where our computer ‘s shared files are located mediatomb, While filesystem is the directory of ours computer, And this is where we will pre-select the folders and content we want to share.
To share one folder or a single file, Just select it on the left side of mediatomb and click the button + which is at the top right, we will have to repeat this with each single folder or file we want to share.
Once this is done, we can close the web browser and go to Play Station 3:

a la Play Station 3, All we have to do is go to the settings menu and in the section adjustments Network, enable the Connection to multimedia server.
Once this is done, we will be able to from any section of the Play, Access the search for multimedia servers, Once the search is complete we should see the option to connect to mediatomb:
If you see that you cannot access the selected content, this means that you will need to access the router and open ports TCP / UDP from’ 49153 to 49162.
