In the next article I will teach them to how to install the KDE desktop in Ubuntu April 12, I must admit, that I have never been very supportive of the functionality of this desktop for Linux, which although it is very spectacular and very worked out, has never quite convinced me.
I guess the reason has always been the lack of time to get used to it, but now that I have a little more time to experiment, i like it quite a bit what I am discovering from this popular desk.
to install the KDE graphical interface, We will not have to add KDE repositories or anything like that, as Ubuntu natively supports this type of desktop, all thanks to the distribution Kubuntu which has this default desktop installed.
So to install nothing easier than opening a new terminal and typing:
- sudo apt-get install kde-standard
- sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
When the installation begins, in the middle of it, we will get a session configurator where we will have to press the accept, And later on the option KDM.
When the installation is complete, please note that it will take a while, we will install the Spanish language package per KDE, We will probably already have it installed, but just in case we will make sure by typing the following line from the terminal:
- sudo apt-get install language-pack-kde-ca
Now we will log out, and in the access manager of Ubuntu April 12 we will select the option indicated in the screenshot:
Upload will begin KDE desktop:
Finally we will see the newly installed KDE desktop:
Note that the applications you will see KDE’s own, They are not installed on our system, if you want to use them, you must install first.
