There is less and less time for it to come out the new Linux Mint 18, A new version that will be based on Ubuntu 16.04. This new version will carry Cinnamon 3 as the default desktop, but not everything will be new. According to Clem, for this new Linux Mint 18, users will have a new desktop theme though it will not be installed on the desktop by default.
The new desktop theme is called Mint-I, a desktop theme that will renew the Linux Mint 18 interface and colors, So much so that Clem and his team have thought that users might be confused if they are newcomers. Thus the desktop theme of Linux Mint 18 will by default be the same as in version 17.3 and only in Linux Mint 18.1 the desktop theme will be changed to Mint-I. This is good news, not because there is a new desktop theme but because the simple fact that if Clem cares about the desktop theme, is that the new version is almost ready to come out as stable with what that entails.
Linux Mint 18 will not have Mint-I by default
Linux Mint 18 is the first version to match the LTS version, the first since Linux Mint and its team decided to change their developments and rely only on LTS distributions. On the other hand, also incorporates Cinnamon 3, a desktop that we can already know and try in our distribution Ubuntu 16.04.
Personally I’ve been using the new version of Cinnamon 3 for a couple of days now, a version that has yet to mature a bit more, but as a production desktop, the desktop is totally stable. So possibly the new Linux Mint 18 Sarah is closer than ever to being on the street, but in this case care must be taken not to pass the case of malware of the latest version.
