More and more users of the famous note program, Evernote and in spite of all this, it is not yet available an official Evernote client for Ubuntu or Gnu / Linux. While it is true that we have some solutions to such a problem. One of them is Everpad, perhaps the best known, but I personally don’t like how it works; another alternative is Nixnote, an unofficial client that will undergo major changes in its second version.
Nixnote is a large client that is attributed a large use of system memory, it is not illogical because it is written in Java, a programming language that has the disadvantage of creating heavy programs. For all this, the author, receiving all this feedback has decided to rewrite it all the application in C ++, A lighter language as far as memory usage is concerned.
If you have a fairly loose computer as far as features are concerned, you can use the first version of Nixnote, Which is written in Java, but I recommend it Nixnote 2, Which while fine the Alpha 3 version is unusable, Recently, throughout this day, it has been released the Alpha 4 version, Which in the words of its creator, is a usable and productive version.

How to install Nixnote 2 on Ubuntu
Nixnote 2 is not in the official repositories of Ubuntu so we will have to use the terminal to install it on our computer, but first, we will have to install the dependencies for it to work. Nixnote 2 is written in C ++ but for it to work well you need to install some bookstores Qt so that it adapts well to the system, these dependencies are installed as follows through the console:
sudo apt-get install libpoppler-qt4-4 tidy mimetex
Once we have these dependencies installed, we head to the author’s website and we download the program. We unzip it and run the program. This will cause this version of Nixnote 2. Of course, this method does not insert the program into our system, so if we want to integrate our account Evernote with Nixnote 2 we will have to go to Tools> Preferences, There we will enter the data of our Evernote account and synchronization will begin.
Honestly, not a big customer of Evernote, At least until today I have not seen any application for Ubuntu that matches the quality of the official application for Windows, but it is the best there is for Ubuntu. if you use Evernote as a productivity tool, I do not recommend using Nixnote 2, But if you use Evernote sporadically, Nixnote 2 is your client. Try it and you will tell me.
