After the release of OTA 10 of Ubuntu Touch, the most logical thing to think was that the next release would be OTA 11. In fact, it was expected to arrive about 6 weeks after the previous release, but it has not been . The version was announced yesterday OTA-10.1 Hotfix for all compatible phones. A version that includes the word “Hotfix” is released to fix issues and improve system performance and reliability and this is why the OTA-10.1 has been released.
As always, it was Lucasz Zemczak who announced the release. Most likely, this new release has been used to correct more problems, but the main reason for its arrival seems to be a security problem which Canonical discovered last week and which is already fixed in the OTA-10.1 Hotfix. Although they have not given further details, their speed and surprise arrival make us think that the problem was relatively important.
OTA-10.1 fixes a security flaw
As soon as the security issue was detected we took precautions on the part of the Store to make sure everyone is safe, giving us time to prepare and deliver the Hotfix release within a working day (i.e. today ).
The update should be available today for all users who have a device Ubuntu Phone, Like the BQ Aquaris E4.5, BQ Aquaris E5 HD, Meizu MX4, Meizu PRO 5, Nexus 4 or Nexus 7. Considering the words of Zemczak, it is recommended that all users update as soon as possible.
While they were working to release the OTA 10.1 Hotfix, the Ubuntu Touch developer team is working to release the next version, a OTA-11 development is being taken patiently and that will include bug fixes and minor translation improvements.
