For many, the new school year has started a few days ago and for many others, especially university students, it has started today, but they all have in common a course ahead where to start learning new things. Today I suggest that you start with Ubuntu a very pending but at the same time very forgotten subject: typing.
A long time ago, the typing used to be given as a training complement in secondary education and for the university world, with the inclusion of the computer world in our lives, the typing he went into second place and sometimes didn’t even get to that, so he’s currently almost in oblivion. Years ago an attempt was made to rescue, using programs computers of typing, but the result was that one had to shell out enough money for a computer program on Windows that often didn’t even get started.
With the rise of the GNU / Linux world, several programs were developed for learn typing, Today I bring you three programs, the most popular, the easiest to install on Ubuntu and for a great price: 0 euros.
Three typing programs for Ubuntu
- TuxTyping. Tuxtyping is a program of typing aimed at children, it is a great tool for children to learn how to use their fingers and keys while playing with the penguin Tux. It is one of the most veteran applications and gives the best results. Its installation is easy. We go to Software Center of Ubuntu, we write «Tuxtyping»In the box look for and it will appear for download and installation. If you are looking for a typing program for young children, Tuxtyping is your program.
- ktouch. KTouch is as old as TuxtypingBut with many differences, the first is that it is for all audiences, it can be used by an adult or a child, it does not have to play, but only learn. The other difference is that it uses QT bookstores so if we have Unity or Gnome, the installation of KTouch it will get very heavy as it will have QT libraries. Like the previous one, to install we go to the ‘ Ubuntu Software Center and we install it.
- Keyboard. This typing program is more current than KTouch and this is noticeable. As you can see in the picture, it has a start menu with learning options as well as a tool to measure our heart rate per second, which is good to know to include in the workplace. It is a great application of typing which has nothing to envy to the above. To install it, just go to Ubuntu Software Center and look for it.
Latest considerations about these typing programs.
I thought enough to put these three examples although there are more because I see them very complete and easy to install in our Ubuntu, I know there are more tools, maybe more complete but also more difficult to install and some that reverberate in our pocket, but today, typing is not worth so much investment, only time and results will be noticed. One last tip, if you are one of those who use only two fingers to write a text document, start using some typing program, it will change your life in front of the computer, I assure you, from personal experience.
