Ubuntu 15.10 has been between us for a few days, and as you might expect at Canonical it didn’t take long to start with the next version. The Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Xenial Xerus development cycle has already begun, and they can now be downloaded the first images daily of the new operating system version. The download site includes stable images of Ubuntu 15.10 and unstable ones of the new version.
However, this is not the only new data we have regarding Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. First of all, yes the official development calendar has been published of this new version of Ubuntu, and with it the final release date of Xenial Xerus is already known to the general public.
According to this official calendar, the toolchain will be uploaded on October 29 and the first alpha version will appear on the last day of the year, In other words, on December 31, 2015. The second alpha version will arrive on January 28, 2016, and the first beta version is expected for February 25.
the last build of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Xenial Xerus before moving to the stable branch will arrive on March 24, and the final release date of the new operating system version is set for the April 21, 2016, At which time all users will be able to enjoy a stable version of the latest iteration of Ubuntu.
Until then the ISOs can be downloaded daily of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS for 64 and 32 bits, but before you start installing them you should know that they are highly unstable versions that under no circumstances do we recommend that you run it on your main machine or in production systems.
