Bring back the login sound in Ubuntu 12.10 / 12.04 is a fairly easy task, so those users who don’t mind will be able to have it back by following three simple steps.
The first is to open the module Application preferences at startup. This can be easily done by entering the lesson name in the Dash, or via control menu.
The next thing is to press the button Add and enter the following data:
- Name: Login sound
- Comment: Plays login sound
We finally accept and save all changes. After that we just need to log out and log back in (we may need to restart our computer) because the login sound will be heard.
Note: If the previous command does not work we can try replacing it with the following:
/usr/bin/canberra-gtk-play --id="desktop-login" --description="login sound" --volume=15
