Ubuntu One account

Martin Albisetti has announced that canonical will centralize the accounts of Ubuntu service users into one, which will be known as Ubuntu One account.

Among the services that can be accessed with this unique account are all those that use Ubuntu Single Sign On, the Ubuntu One cloud and the Ubuntu Pay payment system. This way, the Ubuntu One Account will become the only account that users will need to have to access all online services, applications (Software Center) and content Ubuntu.

What changes and what does not

It’s basically one brand change, So users will not experience any functional changes. The different Ubuntu services will keep their respective names and will remain free as long as it is applied.

According to Albisetti, the brand change responds to the need to differentiate Ubuntu, as a platform, from the services offered by Canonical. Ubuntu is the platform and Ubuntu One will be the collection of services which complement the experience of using the former.
