The VLC developer team has released version 2.1.1 of the popular and robust media player.
One of the news most interesting of VLC 2.1.1 is the experimental support for HEVC / H.265 i VP9, Both next generation video codecs. Some problems with recording, shuffling, and subtitles have also been fixed.
Other changes present in this version are: improvements in the reproduction of OGG, MKV, WAV, FLAC and AVI files; improvements in DirectSound, OSS and D-Bus; many improvements to the Qt interface (menus, preferences, and drag-and-drop option); as well as an improvement in the translations in which the software is distributed.
The list of detail updates is available at this link.
For now no repository has this version of VLC but the packages to compile, for the most impatient, are available at this link.
